HYDRAULIC TOP LINK WITH HOOK - 1 CAT. 50/30-400 (20-55HP)(19,2)
HYDRAULIC TOP LINKS
Hydraulic top links are normal double-acting hydraulic cylinders with welded connections for mounting between the tractor and the tractor attachment. In any case, it is an upgrade of the tractor, if it does not already have it installed originally. Hydraulic top links are corrosion-protected by galvanizing. For safety reasons, all hydraulic top links are also equipped with a block valve. In case of damage to the hydraulic hose, the piston rod inside of the top link remains in the same place, as well as the tractor attachment. The block valve also ensures that the hoses are not under pressure, despite the vibrations during driving so the hydraulic valve on the tractor cannot be strained.
The most common types of hydraulic top links:
- Standard hydraulic top link
(it has a welded eye bearing on both sides)
- Automatic hydraulic top link
(it has an automatic quick-clamping hook for the ball on the piston rod for the tractor attachment)
- Special hydraulic top link
(it is an automatic top link, but instead of an eye bearing, a special hook is welded to the cylinder, which allows greater lateral movement)
- Threaded hydraulic top link
(the length of the top link could be extended by the length of the thread)
Where are hydraulic top links useful?
Hydraulic top links are increasingly indispensable on any tractor, especially on plows, where precise adjustment of the plow is possible. They are also particularly useful with planing boards for soil, as well as tractor forklifts, where we use them for tilting, and even for tipping the load on plateaus.
How to choose the right hydraulic top link for your tractor?
STEP 1: How much horsepower does the tractor on which the top link will be used have?
1. Category: for tractors from 20 to 55 HP (15 - 40 kW)
2. Category: for tractors from 45 to 95 HP (35 - 70 kW)
3. Category: for tractors from 80 to 210 HP (60 - 155 kW)
4. Category: for tractors from 180 to 380 HP (135 - 285 kW)
Otherwise, it makes sense to consider what kind of connection the top link will be used. For example, with a 100 hp tractor, we do not need a CAT 3 top link for lifting a plateau that has a max. load capacity 1500 kg.
STEP 2: What size of the holes should the top link have?
1. Category: 19,2 mm or 25,4 mm holes
2. Category: 25,4 mm holes
3. Category: 25,4 mm or 32,4 mm holes
4. Category: 45,2 mm or 32,4 mm holes
It is also possible to use a reducer, which ensures that one top link can be used on several different tractors or tractor attachments. In the case of automatic or special top links, the holes are determined with a ball that is clamped into the quick-clamping hook.
STEP 3: Adequate length or/and top link stroke.
There is no clear rule or exact standard for how much stroke a hydraulic top link should have for an individual type of tractor. This mainly depends on the type of tractor and the tractor attachments for which it is intended. It is usually used for several tractor attachments that we have, so it is necessary to determine some kind of length that will be suitable for most of them. It is usually easiest to measure a mechanical top link that is already on the tractor. Based on the compressed length of the mechanical top link (the center of the holes is measured), we could determine the nearest hydraulic top link and find out the maximum/stretched length and its stroke.
The standard strokes of the top links are:
- 160 mm
- 210 mm
- 280 mm
- 400 mm
The lengths of the top links with the same stroke then depend on the type itself.
STEP 4: Selection of the type of top link.
- Standard
(used for conventional tractors)
- Automatic
(used if quick-clamping hooks are installed on the tractor on the lower arms)
- Special
(for greater lateral movement amplitude)
- Threaded
(the length of the top link can be extended by the length of the thread)
